WhatsApp has rolled out multiple new features for messaging, voice calls, and channels, boosting functionality as it competes with platforms like Telegram and Discord.
A key highlight is the new ‘Online’ badge in group chats, showing the number of participants available to chat in real time
Another new group chat feature will allow you to highlight certain notifications, as you can now use a newly added “Notify for” setting and select “Highlights” to limit notifications for @mentions, replies, and messages from saved contacts or “All” to receive all notifications.

iPhone users can also scan and send documents directly through WhatsApp. To use this feature, simply tap the attachment icon, choose “Scan Document,” and follow the prompts to capture, adjust, and save the file.
Additionally, WhatsApp now supports default messaging and calling settings on iPhones, allowing users to set it as their primary communication app. Another handy upgrade is the ability to pinch-to-zoom during video calls, making it easier to focus on details.
