
Wellsenn XR predicts a 130% jump in AI glasses shipments worldwide this year, totaling 5.5 million units.
As reported by SCMP, Chinese tech leader Huawei Technologies introduced an enhanced version of its AI-driven smart glasses on Wednesday, intensifying competition in the bustling wearable hardware market.
On Wednesday, the Shenzhen-based telecommunications and consumer electronics company announced its new smart eyewear, priced at (US$315). The device boasts a sleek titanium frame and upgraded AI-powered features, including gesture control, voice commands, and real-time translation.
Huawei’s latest AI glasses are a small upgrade to their 2023 model. The launch comes as the AI glasses market is set to boom, with big tech companies and startups alike using breakthroughs in generative AI—the tech behind ChatGPT—to improve their products.
Market consultancy IDC estimated that China’s total AI glasses shipments will reach 2.75 million this year. Separately, Wellsenn XR forecasts that global AI eyewear shipments would surpass 80 million by 2030.
